Quinta de Foz de Arouce is located in the Council of Lousã, in the Beiras region. It is surrounded by the foothills of the Serras da Lousã and Penela and is bathed by the Arouce and Ceira rivers where the former flows. The old documents existing in the house refer to the properties as belonging to the family since the 18th century, and it is known that some dependencies are older, as the original house was twice consumed by fire. The chapel adjacent to the house was founded by Pope Benedict XIII's Brief Pontifical on 08/24/1724. Vineyard culture has been known in this place since the Visigoth occupation of the Peninsula, as evidenced by several legends that say King Arunce kept wine, among other precious goods, in his Lousã castle. Wine production on the farm blends with the property's own history and demarcation, and today, like the winery, it is the only one known in the region.
