The Marquês de Marialva brand is the flagship brand for DOC Bairrada wines and sparkling wines from Adega de Cantanhede. It was born as a tribute to a man from Cantanhede, D. António Luís de Meneses, commander of the Portuguese troops in the important battles of the Restoration War, Montes Claros and Linhas de Elvas, which led to the regaining of Portugal's independence from the Spanish kingdom.
